Overview:

Another excellent addition to the Sony NXT Series is Sony Xperia Ion publicized in the 2012 Consumers Electronics Show. In the same event Sony Xperia S was launched to give a double treat to Sony lovers. Sony Xperia Ion has a brilliant design, although it is considered to be similar to other NXT series smartphones but it has a more rectangular box shape and in black color it looks dashing when it’s in the hand. The similarity of design in smartphones released in 2012 is an intentional move of Sony to go into the market with a fixed design. Each smartphone has some unique features to make it stand out among others in the NXT Series and the Sony Xperia Ion’s long battery and aluminum finish at the back makes it different from others.

Hardware:

Sony Xperia Ion has a screen size of 4.55 inch that has LCD display, not only this Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine make it an ultimate choice of the user.  Finishing of the back cover is done in nice aluminum which gives a smooth feeling and adds to the beauty of the phone when you hold I in your hand. On the front screen you will find an ear piece and a couple of sensors along with a 1.3 MP front camera. Four capacitive buttons are incorporated on the bottom of the screen while on the top of the device you will find a 3.5 mm head jack, the power button lies on right hand side of the phone along with volume adjustment key and dedicated sleep button. The micro USB and HDMI ports are found underneath the flap of left and side. The main centre of attention is the 12 MP on the back of the smartphone. The rear camera supports the Exmor R sensor which Sony is quite pompous about. Besides this, the back camera is also capable of shooting HD videos at 1080p while the front one does 720p. Sony Xperia Ion weighs only 144 grams whereas thickness is about 10.6mm.

Android 2.3.7 Ginger Bread is the software for the Sony Xperia Ion. This small device is incorporated with facebook and timescape UI. The timescape is considered to be very useful and overall looks really fascinating. The timescape widget allows you to view your text messages, facebook, web feeds, call log, etc in a totally new manner. Besides this, one can view maximum number of facbook posts with least scrolling, therefore making social networking convenient.
